Aarani  Kosapalyam 1008 Shri Aadinath Bhagawan Jain Digambar temple is one of the ancient Jain temples in Thiruvannamalai district in Tamil Nadu, India. Aarni is located very close to the Jain heritage sight Thirumalai or Aranthagiri that can be reached in just 20 to 30 minutes.

This Digambar jinalaya is believed to be 600 years old with the Dravidian style of architecture with main garbhagraha, Dravidian style temple vimana. Mahaamantapapa, Artha mandapam, and also a mandapa with stage for the preaching's of the saints and dharma gurus who come here for darshan of the lord Bhagavan

The statue of 1008 Shri Aadinath Digambar Bhagwan also known as Rishabanath Bhagawan is beautifully. the other jain panchaloha bimbas are also worshipped here. There are also statues for Dharanendra Padmavati the yaksha –yakshi of the lord who stopped the hindrances from disturbing the lord during penance can be seen.

The Jaina navagraha statues can be seen beside the Dharanendra Padmavati shrine.

There is a 16 pillared open corridor called the kalasha mandap in the right side when entering the premises. On the wall beside the entrance in which there is a statue of Bhowmeya Bhairav. Another yaksha god who protected the Tirthankaras.

There is a beautiful Madhuban that resembles the holy Shikarji( holy place of Jains) , in which there are mandaps for the 24  thirthankars, there are signboards for each Tirthankara with description of name,  parents names, place of attainment of salvation, god’s sign. There is also a miniature hill that resembles the Vindhya Giri of Shravanabelagola in Karnataka, the statue of Gomateshwara is made up of marble.



There is a tall maanastamba that is placed in front of the shrine of lord Aadi Bhagawan.

Recently the Pancha Kalyana Mahotsav happened in which the Trikala Tirthankaras have been installed behind the main shrine under one roof. The Trikala thirthankars are the thirthankaras in the past, present and the future have been placed during the recent Pancha Kalyana mahotsava.

 there are paintings of Jain monuments, stories and mantras on the main mandap.




There are many Jain families around the temple and the poojas and rituals are regularly performed to the deities in the temple.  

There are beautiful parrots, pigeons and other pretty birds  in the temple premises that adds to the beauty of the temple.

 

How to reach:

Aarni is a busy town in Thiruvannamalai district that  can be reached from major cities like Chennai and Bangalore.

There are taxis  and cab services that are available on request for 24/7 all days that can be pre-booked also.

 Nearest railway station is located at Aarni.

Nearest airport is located at Chennai.

Temple timings:

The temple is opened early in the morning by the temple priest. And is closed by noon.

In the evening the temple is opened  by 4;30 pm and is open till around 8 pm
